Spot the fake! Hit the jump and see if you can tell the difference between Leopard and the Linux distribution on the MyMini PC. The gOS Space looks awfully familiar, and needs a bit more time baking in the oven. _ TIRED_ Bluetooth but no WiFi? Come on! Free OS and middling hardware specs makes it hard to justify the price tag. Plenty of other distributions to choose from. _ WIRED_ 2-in-1 card reader and slot-loading DVD burner are nice touches. There is a silver lining though: Better open source OS options are easy to swap in, so at least you’re not stuck with this Mini Leopard doppelganger. The rig itself is pretty small at 1.65 inches x 6.7 inches x 8.9 inches, and the 120-GB hard drive provides ample room for storage. This fiasco is performed on what is essentially unimpressive hardware: a 1.86-GHz Intel Core Duo and 512 MB of RAM, propped up by an adequate Intel GMA 950 graphics processor. Called gOS Space, the revamped operating system is based on Ubuntu and runs smoothly - albeit chocked full of bundled software that’s mostly web-app links for MySpace. Now called MyMiniPC, we’re not sure why the Linux distribution cribs so liberally from Apple’s operating system, but we can only assume it was for gaining street cred with a hipper crowd. When Everex’s gPC received an OS update that made it look like Leopard, we were skeptical.
